I loved it when I read that Henry Moore had said, “The first hole made through a piece of stone is a revelation.” If, however, the hole is neither round nor in the centre it seems, at least to me, to demand a corresponding response by the surrounding material. There strikes up a dialogue between the negative shape of the hole and the positive shape of the marble and its volumes. It is into this chaos that I venture and try to bring harmony.
